How to get to Auckland (Capital City)?
Option 1: Plane - Auckland is the hub city for not only air New Zealand, but it sees carriers like Emirates, Qantas, Latam, Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Air China. It takes just shy of 4 hours from Sydney to Auckland. With the time difference usually about 3 hours will lose time travelling over to New Zealand but will gain it upon your return to Australia. Flights on average in non peak season can be as cheap as $150 AUD one way. Depending on when you fly and how far in advance you book you may be able to get them even cheaper!
Option 2: Cruise - You can sail to Auckland! Yes, I understand it's not the first option that might come to your head however cruising is a great option to change up your travel itinerary and experience a different type of holiday prior or after your holiday has commenced. Most cruises to Auckland will allow you the option to finish/start in Auckland while others will provide you a 1-2 night stopover and continue their journey.
Option 3: Car - If you're already in New Zealand you can opt to drive to Auckland. There is a ferry if you're departing from the South Island and want to make your way north. The drive from Wellington to Auckland is about 7-8 hours. We drove some of the way and it was such a scenic drive. I do highly recommend if you are going
